The Officially Licensed Marine Corps Big Dixie Fine Leather BiFold Wallet

The Big Dixie is named after "The Heart of Dixie," Alabama's "unofficial" name.  The "Heart of Dixie" started as a public relations campaign launched by the Alabama Chamber of Commerce in the late 1940s.  The goal was to eliminate Alabama's generic "cotton state" nickname in favor of something more distinct.  A bill was soon passed to brand Alabama license plates with the "Heart of Dixie" slogan, the first of which rolled out in 1955.

This wallet is handmade right here in our Huntsville, Alabama, shop with the finest of Full Grain American leathers. We hand–pick our leather hides from a local tannery for a rustic look and feel.  Our leathers can vary in shades due to the way we have our leather tanned (the old-fashioned way).

Fun Fact:  Alabama State license plates were made at Kilby prison in Montgomery from 1927 through the late 1960s. Plates now are made at Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore.
